We can get too close to our work. Too wrapped up in the day to day, ticking tasks off the list, processing decisions. It is easy to lose perspective on our role and move forward with tunnel vision. Sometimes we need to step away from the desk, step outside our role, in order to regain some perspective.
Swap roles with someone else for a while - do something completely different. Bring your skills and experience to a new endeavour and apply them in a new way. Learn a couple of new skills (it’s never too late). Talk to someone else about their impressions of what you do. Read. Draw. Keep a journal. Look around for some inspiration. Ask for feedback.
We apply these measures in groups, in workshops and coaching to gain insight on others. But you can use these in your everyday too, to remind you why you do what you do. And how good you really are.
